I downloaded sources, trying to build for OS2008. Some minor tweaks are necessary: changing hildon-fm to hildon-fm-2, hildon-libs to (?) hildon-1. Also, in all #includes "hildon-widgets/" should be replaced with "hildon/".

After that, the source builds ok. And it even starts. But I cannot reach the main menu. So I'll continue investigation.

May be, we should setup a project on garage - to maintain the patch against unmodified freeciv (and may be even upgrade it to freeciv 2.0.9 and beyond)?

Hi,

Have a look at the topic about freeciv update here. Now it also contains the source archive.

Hi,

I have added a download link to the source tarball of the binary package. I hope that it will be usefull.

(The source release was delayed, since I had little spare time for this and the blog software rejected my package earlier... :(

Dear Movial team,

As a member of the Freeciv development team, I thank you for porting the game to an intriguing platform! I have up a link here from our wiki (www.freeciv.org).

However, we are slightly concerned that you haven't yet published your modified source code for this release, which for one is required by the GPL license and would also be of use to future device ports of the Freeciv code.

Looking forward to your reply!

Sincerely,

Daniel Markstedt

We want the code, bitte.. ;-) There are always people who can continue the port, just post the code to rt.freeciv.org..

This actually make me want to buy one of these Nokias even more, that tells you something of the extent that my longturn.org addication has grown...

> You could also build a matchbox with --enable-composite.

I actually did and it works fine too, I guess I could put it in the repo as well.

The only thing broken with it is the modal dialog parent dimming feature, it looks awful (but having not seen this anywhere else in action, can't say if it is due to a bug or is it just Matthew's fault ;)

> The module is never really unloaded so Gtkmm tries happily to > re-register all the types it has already registered and goes boom.

If you can choose an appropriate time, maybe it would help to call the little-known gtkmm cleanup functions:

Glib::Error::register_cleanup();

Glib::wrap_register_cleanup();

Or maybe you just need to do the initialization somewhere else, when the module is loaded instead of when it is shown.
